I've searched the entire forum for a posts with information about the problem I have and though I found some, none of the answers have solved it. The problem is that when I try to playback a DiVX movie with AC3 sound I only get stereo output. I've tried several players, Media player, powerDVD, WinDVD and PowerDiVX in combination with the ac3 codec and other codecs I have found on the internet.
I can play any AC3 or VOB file without any problems but not AVI files with AC3. I know the movies I've tested this on have AC3 sound as I've ripped (using VirtualDub) the sound from the file and played it with winDVD and I got perfect multichannel sound.
I use a soundblaster audigy and the AVI file I use to test the playback is:
Ocean's Eleven DIVX
Sampling rate: 48000Hz
Channels: 5
Sample precission: 0-bit
Compression: Unknown(tag 2000)
