    just to be on the safe side make sure you have run a few scans for malware

    apple ipod stuff is a little iffy?

    to isolate this further, test more avi's

      Well i have now ran bot avast and spybot and their's no spyware to be found i have also watched a couple of avi files and some are worse than others but in 99% all of them have some degree of lagg. It should also be said then even with the PC on idle and no programs running i have bad mouse lagg on the TV screen. The ram and CPU usage is the same as the screen shot i showed you, CPU might peak a bit (maybe 15%) but thats all.

        go into msconfig and stop that ipod stuff and anything else that looks iffy and reboot

        of course maybe it's just the cable is too long

          dunno if this helps but it seems like the lagg becomes worse the further out in the movie I come. I have also removed the itunes and ipod crap so they are gone.
