    Direct DVD Writers

    Hi All

What are your experiences with direct DVD writers such as VRD-MC1 / VRD-MC3 from Sony or any other DVD recorders (Panny, Hitachi) that can record from DV Cam or VCRs? I have some old VHS home videos to convert to DVD and also Mini DV videos.

    Or is PC route better?

I would need to get a A/D converter to convert my VHS if I used PC, right?

    cheers

I have a Liteon 1105GHC+ which I can hook up my camcorder via firewire and download from the TV. Excellent picture and easy.
    You raise the blade,
    You make the change,
You rearange me till I'm sane.
You lock the door, throw away
    the key,
    There's someone in my head
    and it's not me.

      Hi

Can it record in 16:9 format? If you saw my previous postings, with "PC route" I could not get the DVD in 16:9 format though my camcorder records in that and plays back properly when conencted to my TV. The output DVD with PC was all sqashed with elongated pics.

I read in the user manual of SONY RDR GX360 that the recording would be in 4:3 if DVD+R is used. With DVD-R it records in the same format as the input. I think I used DVD+R when I made the DVD earlier. Could it be the reason I got squashed DVD?? I do not have a DVD drive on my own PC else could have tried it.

This SONY RDR GX360 with DVD-R should serve the purpose??

Only thing is it would add another piece to my A/V rack that is nearly full.I may have to throw out my Bose 321(though a crap compared to my Yamaha Stereo with Jamo E855 spkrs it is easy to use for my 5 year old so it remains)

It does record in 16:9 very well.

Thanks I'd try that. I don't know if Lite On is available in UAE market.
