How can I check which files would work?

So I get a lot of movie xvid/divx files and sometimes when I play them on my Phillips dvd/divx player, the video is all messed up. It shows colorful blocks of blue and pink all over the video. The audio works fine and half the picture is good but those dang blocks. Anyways...when I get these files they say xvid/divx on them but some of them play funny.

Is there a program I can use to go thru my entire library of files and sort out the ones that would work with my dvd/divx player and ones that dont?

I could just stick the dvd in my player but it would take forever for each one. I have the files on my computer.

Phillips Dvp642/37 secret ... (or defect if u will) - ocassionally when one inserts media in player it will show a botched/embossed/scrambled colours picture, even though the media is encoded properly: now this sounds weird BUT here's what u wanna try:

On DVD remote hit the "Menu" button it is labeled Menu but above the button it says "System" anyhow one should do this while movie/vid is playing course it will stop the movie & bring up the DVD player Menu (not the actuall dvd menu but menu for DVD 'Player') after u have seen this menu come up- hit same button again - now the player resumes playback without the botched pic. Firmware upgrade won't help. More likely this is the issue, than your encoding method. Pls lemme know if this works for you as it sure did for me AND a frnd of mine with exact same blotched pic issue.
