Digital Video Recommendation

Hi folks,

I am a total "Newbie" in this department ... so need your folks help ... my Honey wants to buy herself a Video Camera ... I guess digital would be the way to go ...

Could you tell me

1) What Brand?

2) Which Model

3) Should have "Image Stabalization".

4) Something that we can use and keep for many years to come.

5) Will be taking Family Videos ... so it must be decent enough BUT not cost us an arm & leg.

... and tell me what else I need to know before we commit $$$ to it.

Any helpful URL that you folks have bumped into ... please let me know.
