Playing AVI, MPEG Files on TV via USB dongle

Hi everyone, I would like to find out if anyone has heard of a USB dongle with RCA cables, which connect directly to the TV and let you watch AVI/MPEG files. This device eliminates the process of having to convert and burn an AVI/MPEG file on to a DVD. Can some tell me the name and where I can purchase such a device. Thank you.
