Using a standard CD with a regular DVD player

Hi,

I know its possible to convert / export avi files to vob whereby they play on regular DVD players.

But my mac doesnt have a DVD burner. Is it possible to export the AVIs in they fit on a standard 700mb cd, and can play on any DVD players.

I would prefer not to use VCD or to by a stand alone DIVX player.

Any ideas ?

Not any regular DVD player will play avi files. Only those players capable of playing DivX/XviD will be able to do so. And they will play both DVDs and CDs containing DivX/XviD avi.
