    Camcorder reseting iLink on rewind

Using newly installed firewire PCI card on a Vista PC, install a breeze and reported as working fine. When I connect my Sony MiniDV tape camera via iLink it gets picked up succesfully and (Roxio and MS Movie Maker) editing software goes through the motions. When starting the import process off it rewinds the tape (that's fine, I want to transfer it all) but disconnects as soon as the tape is rewound. If I rewind before I connect the connection is instantly made and lost on power up/connection of the Camera.

Anyone come across this? It looks like the camera is sending a terminate the connection signal when the tape is fully rewound?

      WinDVD

Thanks, nice utility, same thing happens though. Once the editing s/w or utility talks back to the camera (I assume) the link is broken. I moved from a vista machine last night and installed the firewire PCI card on to an XP Pro desktop, Core2 Duo, 2GB, PCIe Graphics, install was fine, PC picks up camera on power with no problem. WinDVD sees it. It is looking more like the camera! Most I can get is a half second sample at best.

      Thanks for the suggestion.

Just for info, Camera is a new low end Sony model, MiniDV tape, great value. DCR-HC51. Glad I tried it on XP and got the same results, was beginning to regret Vista PC purchase for home. XP for the office but some guys have Macbook Pros so that is the next test, will post result.

Have you configured the maximum capture file size in WinDV ?

            Replace the camera.
            You raise the blade,
            You make the change,
You rearange me till I'm sane.
You lock the door, throw away
            the key,
            There's someone in my head
            and it's not me.

This is set to 22500 - so plenty there
