    Can't play anything anymore

    Hi,

I recently had to format my hard drive and reinstall widows xp pro. For some reason it's not verifying the product key of my system. That aside, I installed most of the older players I had before like VLC, WMP, media player classic, DivX player,... I also installed all of the codecs I had before. I made a back up from those and reinstalled them.
Since, the formatting I haven't been able to play 1 movie file, cd or dvd. There isn't any sound or vision.
I check with Gspot to see if the files are complete or if they need a codec. And it shows that the needed codecs are installed and the files are complete.
What can be happening? What do I need to do to get this fixed?

    Thanks for the help.
