Music file playback

Can't play music files that I transfer to my flash drive. Will get "file does not match file format" error message from windows media player. Media player will play same music file if on my hard drive but not not on flash drive.. What's the problem here? Any help appreciated.

What file format is your music in?

Are you playing the music files back from the flash drive on the same PC as created?

Downloaded files from internet, not sure what format because file properties does not say. Also, actual error message from media player says, "file extension does not match file format". Yes, playing back files from flash drive on same PC as created. Thanks.

Were they Downloaded from a service like Amazon.com or Sony Connect etc.? Or how?

Most were torrents downloaded from btjunkie.com using uTorrent. Thanks.

There's a lot of free alternative music by independent artists posted on P2P, seems a good way to promote small bands
