    dv tape dropped in water!

I dropped a dv tape in water (very briefly) that some of my students had just shot some important footage on. The tape seems fine but won't rewind passed a certain point, the tape stops and indicates I should eject it. Can I save it? My students are going to be very upset if I can't!

    You raise the blade,
    You make the change,
You rearange me till I'm sane.
You lock the door, throw away
    the key,
    There's someone in my head
    and it's not me.

Once I had a similar accident with 2 tapes (which got actually quite well soaked in water). As i thought they were probably spoiled anyway I tried the following: I put them in a food dehydrator for over night, with cover open and very low temperature. Before playing them I winded tapes twice through the whole tape (without the image). Surprisingly the both tapes worked perfectly. of course there is a risk of getting dirt or moisture in your player/camcorder, but you seem to have tested that anyway already.
