I know that VOB is coded as a form of MPEG-2, but what I want to do is to convert a VOB file to a normal MPEG-2 file that can be edited in Premier or other editing software.
I am creating DVDs from analog sources using a standalone DVD recorder. The VOB files that are created are not encrypted.
There is software that extracts the video stream and audio stream separately. Then you have to put them together. The other method is to run my my standalone DVD with firewire and have premier just capture it.
Is there a better method where you convert the VOB directly to an MPEG-2 file that contains both the video and audio without have to combine them? I am looking for a simple utility or program that does a straight format conversion without changing the compression or anything else, just making a legitimate MPEG-2 file and keeping the resolution the same.
