Is it possible to have too many codecs on a machine? It seems like each video/audio program that I load brings with it a set of codecs.

Since I moved to Vista I've been relying on Shark's Codec Pack. Also the Windows Seven version for W7. He claims the Vista pack is compatible with XP. He seems pretty conscientious about providing a means to remove it cleanly, which prolly puts him way ahead of the (yep.. I'm gonna' use the word...) pack.
