Sound and Picture Synchro problems

Hello all

I have problems with playing only some DIVx files! the sound the the picture dont stay together. This is crap. All my divx's work hundred percent at a friend of mine but not on my dumb machine.

Anybody body with a solution other than upgrading , please

Are the DivX files of concern at large resolution (relative to others)? If so, that is indicative of your CPU being unable to process them fast enough. Run your desktop at 16-bit colour and 800x600 resolution (or even 640x480), and also disable all DivX playback filter (via the DivX decoder property). In addition, use less-resource-hungry players, like BSPlayer or WMP 6.4.

I use windows media player 6.4 i have like 10 players on my machine now cause i was testing. BSplayer and Windows Media Player seem to be my best player....but i like like using Windows Media player 6.4 mainly.

umm. how do i check for those details or resolutions? right click the file? I probably know but i am just comfirming.

Open video in WMP 6.4, then File -> Properties -> Details -> Video Size

plays perfectly and it is full screen. the sound is a bit itchy but i think thats because i still have a awe 64 isa.

Plays perfectly also. also wide screen rip looks like it. bottom and top are black.

This one plays sticky...cant keep up windows media player....6.4
BSplayer seems to cope better but they still neither one of them can keep a smooth non-sticky playback......the sound and picture are not synch. :=( It is not always sticky....but some moments while playing back.


My american pie is very very sticky.......i dont have it on here now...i will check and post u the details now now.

As suspected, the MIB rip is too high in resolution at the full DVD resolution of 720x480. Apparently, your Celeron 600+ is not fast enough for this resolution. You will need to reencode it at a lower resolution. You will benefit from this by having a smoother playback and less picture artifacts.

Wait i dont understand one thing thoug, if u look at the Tailor Of Panama rip and the MIB , arent they the same resolutions and stuff? I am most likely wrong...please check what i mean again....

If you take a look at the total number of pixels, you will find that MIB has a much higher number of pixels (720 x 480 = 345,600) as compared to Tailor of Panama (768 x 320 = 245,760). My words on the MIB being too high in resolution still stands henceforth.

I just found out that my American Pie DivX is also above my system's proccessing capability. My estimate was wrong i guess.
I think my system most likely Maxes out at about

If your system is showing symptoms of being unable to play the video, just lower down the desktop resolution and colour depth, and also the DivX post-processing filter.

Generally, you should not use a horizontal resolution of more than 640 (Keeping the aspect ratio in mind). Sub-GHz systems have difficulty playing clips at this resolution, let alone with the filter enabled. 512x() or lower would suit your system better.
