See **03 series here. It's a DMA, media or drive issue. Can you burn anything? What about other media - it is conceivable that you have a bad batch of Verbatims.....nothing's perfect (except for Santa Claus).

i would be checking dma too

and try putting the burner on its own power line , if your power supply is too little it could be its getting too little juice

I was hoping i would not have any problems with it, but you no what they say ---- happens. I didnt stick with the benQ, i got the nec, instead. Monarch Computers, built it, i dont no if thats good or bad. I checked the dma and its
            + Ide ata/atapi controllers
            -nvidia nforce4 parallel ata controller
            -nvidia nforce4 serial ata controller
            -nvidia nforce4 serial ata controller

I dont no a thing about it, The burning can burn data c/d's, i been burning the error Logs and transfering them to this pc so i can post them, what a pain, .

                  @ chewy
do these specs ( http://forum.digital-digest.com/show...4&postcount=18 ) belong to mill?

                  @ mill
the nvidia ide driver work fine for me (on an asus a8n sli) but you can easily UNinstall them for a test and see if they may be to blame (which i doubt)

what about your dma settings for the nec?
and did you try a different media yet?

so you dont find any such thing as *PIO mode* for your nec or do you?

                        if not, you're fine

this is a heck of a christmas for you Mill.

let's tackle the NForce ide driver first, I've setup my PIA nvidia
                                asus computer

go into device manager, open ide ata/atapi controllers
take the main NForce IDE controller(not primary or secondary)
                                dbl click
                                properties window
                                what's the driver version?
