    Ok chewy...
I am learning something new here... So I have to ask this:
YOU avoid ISOs.. but when I finish backing and shrinking my movies thats the END product is an ISO. WHY would YOU avoid these? And if they are not needed then why make them. Yes I read the rules for each maybe there is something I am NOT understanding here. Yes I have MPC it works and I can watch the Disk that I can't record via the MPC, I would like to know why you avoid the ISOs and why and if I am doing something ELSE wrong or making unneeded steps?
Like I told you before you make me stop and think sometimes!

You can also open Dvd Shrink & click Ctrl/i.

under the file command in dvdshrink, there's an open disk image(that's what an iso is)

and you have to use something like mediaplayerclassic to play an iso

    that's why I avoid iso's

Will shrink open it? dude... it did.
I mean, grrrr sorry chewy I don't have a good vocabulary for this stuff.
I did the one click method for all 5 disk, didn't want 6 bonus crap.
Backed them each up using shrink to me reserve drive and burned them later in each case it claimed all was fine and back up sucessful.
When the first 2 were fine i didn't save the logs (cept the imgburn ones) because I thought they were all fine.. even the cd-dvd speed read says there is something on the disk and it'll play on the computer (the files umm the ISO I mean).
I understand quality means taking the time to do it right in the first place, and when your looking at a 5 disk collection it's easy to rush.. thats why I just used the one click and the cd/dvd/ speed the thing and go on about business. I guess I'll learn a lesson this time.
But shrink don't open ISO (does it?) Is there a way to go back and edit the ISOs once they been backed up like this?
    Thank you friend

PS. I gotta remember.. just be patient the new system will be up and running soon!

there are several steps in backing up a dvd, doing the simpliest set of steps
necessary for the job makes analyzing the failures easier

checking each step for success or failure is critical

understanding what each step does is the first thing people should attempt

jake, you need to start all over at ground zero

    disk 4

    will shrink open it?

    Ok chewy...
I read it, Some I understand.. some I don't. I didn't burn #6 because it's crap disk with just bonus materials, i don't need them. 1 - 5 are the story that's what I want. All the other have burned but NOT 4. I going to burn 5 right now but 4 is a mystery.
The logs above in post #72 of no help!??
Damn I will be glad when my new burners are here!!!! I will use one until I get the new computer together!!
BTW.. my disk were NEW not a scratch or smudge... I cleaned the head ot the burner and ripper drive also...
    DAYUM!!!!!!!!!!

This is just the imgburn longs of the different media and types I've tried so far.. I doubt it will help.

    Jake,

Post the burn logs for the ones that will not play.
    May show something.
Also, what is the name of the set?

    Chewy...
I have a 5 disk set I am burning... I am thru 3 of them but when it comes to the 4th disk I am having a chit fitt.
I have bitset it on all 3 types of +R I have but I can't get em to play on my dvd player. I use the cd-dvd speed to check them and the size and everything is correct (even my crappy burning) but It says "this disk can not be played on ALL of them. I can't figure out why.
I have the final ISO here and the file plays fine on the mplayerc but the disk be dayumed..
What the heck is going on?
I am not sure what files you'd need in this case.. but I think I try a -r also and see what happens.

there's no earthly reason that cards shouldn't support atapi drives just as well as motherboard southbridge chipsets

but the idiots designing those chipsets were just too damn lazy
Yeah, I know that. Now I remember that hugh thread at CDfreaks about the add on cards!

I got a headache about halfway thru reading it...

and what's funny is when the chipset works fine, the card's bios won't or will only work on some dvd burners

they are OK for hard drives but not optical drives
I know you have said that before, but I don't know if I ever asked, why?

Why is it not good (technically speaking) to put a burner on a card?
