ImgBurn error - incompatible format?

I've been having problems backing up my DVD's ever since I got a new computer. I was originally having the skipping/pausing problem with burn copies, so I stopped using labels, and that didn't work. I reduced the burn speed to 4x, that didn't work either. At that point, I figured the burner that came with my new computer wasn't so great so I switched it out with one of the burners from my old computer (one that never gave me any problems). After installing it, I attempted to back-up a disc (The 4400 Season 2, Disc 3) first using the DVD Shrink-Nero combo, and when it got to burning stage, I got the "illegal disc" error. At this point, I came to these boards and read about ImgBurn, how it is apparently the better program to use when burning, so I downloaded and installed that, and gave it a whirl. No dice. I don't think it's my burner, as it never gave me problems before. Here's my most recent log. Any help with this is much appreciated! *EDIT* Apologies if this has been asked already. I looked around, and couldn't find anything relating to this specific error.

Not sure what you mean by this, could you give me some examples of 'on-the-fly decryption programs?'

Also, after reading The Golden Rules of Burning FAQ, it seems I have a rather cruddy quality media, but it is the same media I have always used for over a year now, with little to no problems, until I got a new burner. Now it seems I am cursed. Nevertheless, I'm going to Best Buy tomorrow to get some Fuji discs. Not sure if that will help, but it's definitely worth a shot.

are you sure? what was the mid of those disks that worked? NOT BRAND!

Before you go out and buy new discs, check the manual on your new burner. It should recomend what type to use.

The max speed of the burner I'm using is only 2.4x. Shouls I still be burning at half of that?

Regarding the media ID of the discs, from the beginning, I was using KHypermedia discs (CMCMAGAE1), but when that started giving me problems I tried something new, and went with TDK (CMCMAGAM3), which turned out to be just as bad, according to that media faq site listen in the golden rules of burning. I also tried some Memorex discs (RITEKF1), but I had bas luck with them as well.

I cannot check the manual of my new burner (a Lightscribe 16x, don't know the complete technical name for it, as it's currently installed in an out-of-comission computer), because since it came installed with the computer, it didn't come with a manual. I don't even think the one I currently have installed (the NEC one) had one. None that I can find at least.

Hello everyone. Been reading you for the last couple of years and have always found help. Thank you. Now I have the same problem as shotodrag. I've read the thread and found no answer. I use good quality media (I think) and only burn at 4x at the most. Everytihing worked until yetserday when, after five years, I got myself a new PC. New burner is a LiteOn 16x DL burner and even if i do exactly as I did before it just wont work. Any ideas?

Post a log from Imgburn or DVD Decrypter, Nero would be even better if you use Nero.

The only certain things are "death and taxes"

An imgburn log will tell us your burner's firmware and the mid code of the blanks you are using. New computer and same brand of media give us no clues at all. It's not that simple.
