Why can't people be more nice?

Here is how some people respond when what has been said offends them. I guess they get angry when they hear words that attack their point of view... I suppose Batman's "Dumb Soldiers" comment couldn't possibly offend or "flame" anybody. Probably not even the families of those "Dumb Soldiers".

It seems Batman gets a special dispensation for being an elder member of this site. As I see it, the only poster that should be really offended by my "outburst", should be Batman and of course his disciples . Interestingly enough, Batman has respectfully remained silent. I'm sure some will defend his silence too.

Although I don't expect any Video Help from this site and I won't ask for any. I will however, continue to thwart the ongoing email attacks from radical members of this site. When the attacks stop, so will the "FLAME WAR".

I almost thought about posting something like that in my original post but I didn't want to make anyone feel not wanted or needed. We will always need an admin though because I have realized, There will NEVER be TOTAL order here. Maybe one day we can get rid of the flamers though!

I don't remember every trying to incite anything here. You, on the other hand, are trying to just that with these provocative sentences.

Whether you were under attack by these e-mails or not, I have nothing to do with that. I have better things to do.

If people refrain from personal attacks, there should be no problem in discussing "emotional" or "hot" topics.

I could say some very nasty things about Oldbie36, but I won't because it does nothing to further my point or discussion. From my experience, collateral damage and/or friendly fire is the result of some ridiculously "stupid" human error, I stand by that statement.

I'm truly sorry I reacted strongly to the "Dumb soldiers" part of your equation but, I found your post very offensive to my country and insulting to the families of all the soldiers dieing in the war. I know I will never change your opinion about this war and I doubt that you can change mine.

Thank you for changing the wording to a more acceptable meaning. I too, will end this conversation because it does nothing to further my point or discussion.

Something like that? Do you not believe that wouldn't offend anyone? Yes it is not on the same level as the war but still you got your views messed up at the moment.

See, this is exactly why I had to close the Iraq thread, because this thread is turning into a flame war as well. Ironically, I may not have to close a thread about closing a thread.

A lot of people disagree on a lot of different issues. Eventually, some of them will be proved right, and some of them proved wrong (occasionally, everybody could be wrong). If people just agreed to disagree, being matured enough to have confidence in their own opinions, then we would never have arguments (although a good slanging match is therapeutic sometimes).

The Internet is also not a democracy, and neither is this forum. If this forum was a democracy, the admin would be an elected position, we would have a multi-party system, and we'd all be having this argument in a thread called "congress" (or "parliament", depending on where you come from).

In the end, I am the Saddam Hussein of this forum, although I tend not to torture people so much (except for spammers). What separates me from Saddam (apart from the moustache) is that I'll try to act in the best interest of this forum, remain objective and focus on the main use of this forum, which is for digital video related issues. I could ban Oldbie36, but it would not be for his opinions on the war, but rather, his impolite post to Batman (remember, being polite is one of the rules of this forum). This can also be applied to several others posters in this and other sub-forums. However, I have never banned anyone for being impolite before, and I'll take into account the emotional nature of the topic being discussed before taking such a drastic action.

(No, I'm implying that I have received many email messages from many different DVF posters including SKD_Tech, Batman, Admin and you I may add. This thread contains just about everyone who has wanted to express their opinions of me and to me. I have always believed you shouldn't give it if you can't take it.)
