WIth all the hype about Silva coming inI think the Iceman's next fight is getting overlooked..He has to get through Renato 'Babalu' Sobral first and he is no pushover as seen Here
(plus this clip uses a song from my favorite band System Of A Down so that helps too haha)Not only does Chuck have to beat Sobral but he has to come out healthy

Wanderlai looks awfully sloppy in the clips I have seen of him. He is no doubt a standout striker with good power, but so was Vitor Belfort, Randy Couture, and Randleman. Liddell had his way with all of them. And Liddell has already knocked out Sobral once a few years ago.

I have to say that Liddell is one of my favorite fighters right now. He is by no means unbeatable, but if he is fighting another striker, that only means that there will be openings for him to capitalize on. Couture only slipped briefly and Liddell hit the bulls eye with that right hand. It could go both ways though....Silva looks to have a lot of brawl in him, and if he can take a punch than the Iceman will be in for a rough 25 minutes.

He is kinda wild and wide with his punches, but he throws so many you have to either backup or take one on the chin....punches in bunches if you will.

I don't think it will take anywhere near that long...someone is getting stretched out long before the 25 minutes is up.

Thats exactly what I had thought about Silvia/Arlovski. I wouldn't have ever put money on that fight going five minutes, never mind 5 rounds.

I hope they put on a good show.

Speaking of good show......I was really happy to see Joe Stevenson step it up after losing the decision to Neer. He did a pretty decent job standing with Edwards. I think his striking will be a lot more effective in the 155lb division, which will give him a lot more oportunity to get his takedowns. Yves Edwards is FAST, but Stevenson seemed to roll with him pretty well.

I kinda feel bad for Shamrock. He did take a serious series of elbows from Ortiz and looked to be out, but the INSTANT Ortiz was pulled off, Shamrock stood up with Herb Dean looking unfazed. I know Shamrock can take some punishment ( a la Ortiz/Shamrock 1 ) I'm kind of surprised Dean stopped it so soon. May have been a good call though, not like I've ever been in that situation ( thank God!! )

The only Shamrock i want to see in the Octogan is Frank. If Ken wants to fight again he should pull one of the original UFC fighters out of retirement so he has a chance. I don't see anyone in 205 much less heavyweight that Ken can compete with. If Tito has any fight left in him he has to take a top fight and win to further his legacy. Stop wasting this part of his career on an old has been. I'm with most people in saying that Tito is past his prime, but you look at his record 4 losses. THe loss to Mezger he rebounded and punished him in second fight. Frank Shamrock disappeared Liddell and Couture. Not a bad MMA record. Wins over Silva Belfort Shamrock Bohlander Mezger Tanner etc. If Tito could pull out one more big win in his career, I think his legacy will be strong.

I would love to watch a lot more Pride, KotC....any MMA action. It's just not as easily obtained as the UFC right now. There are a ton of exciting fighters out there that don't get the recognition they deserve.

Maybe a UFC vs Pride pay per view???

They play some PrideFC fights on FSN every now and then, but I'm not sure what the schedule is. Chuck went to Japan and fought twice in 2003, beat Allistair Overeem the first time and the second fight Jackson beat Chuck...two great fights. I was thinking Dana White went to Japan with two or three of his fighters entered into one of Pride's tournaments, but it must have just been Chuck unless Murillo Bustamante and Dan Henderson were with the UFC a few years ago.

I just seen that Griffin and Bonnar will have their rematch in August under Liddell/Sobral. Hopefully they come out and throw like their first match, and don't get the "I don't want to get knocked out" bug that Arlovski/Silvia caught.

This weekend big MMA event. Think it's called WFA's King of the streets.

                                Two main fights

Quinton "rampage" Jackson vs Matt "the law" Lindland

Lindalind is an olympic gold medalist wrestler from 2000 in Sydney.
Lindland is a member of Team Quest training with the likes of Randy Couture. While Jackson is one of the baddest Mofo's in the game today destroying Chuck Liddell and Ricardo Arona. His slams are legendary. Jackson is currently sparring with Tito Ortiz to get ready for this fight.
Prediction: Lindland obvisouly has great technique but is coming up in weight to fight a freakishly strong Jackson. Look for Jackson break out of Lindland's holds with pure strength and score a knockout in the second round.

Bas "El Guapo" Rutten Vs Kimo Leopoldo

Bas Rutten the vicious striker and former UFC heavyweight champion coming out of retirement to take on Kimo. Bas has not fought in 7 years. Kimo on the other hand has been active in MMA getting knocked out by a the knee of Ken Shamrock before i could even get back from the restroom. I haven't lost all hope in Kimo looking at his resume of great fights his near defeat of Royce Gracie controversial loss due to Bob Sapp and comeback victory over Paul Varleans. In my opinion Kimo is carrying too much weight he was much better when he slimmed down he had more gas in the tank and seemed to be an effective striker even over a guy that outweighed him by eight pounds. Rutten is so good all around i just can't see any scenario where Kimo is going to win ring rust or not.

Some solid undercard fights i think Ricco Rodriguez, Vernon White and a few others i don't remember. Don't know how much the pay per view is but it goes down this saturday july 22 at the forum in Los Angeles.
