i deleted the files, but i've done the same process several times with the same result. ill re-rip the movie tomorrow (or maybe tonight) and see when the audio buttons are removed.

all the other movies ive done dont have this problem, and i do the same steps for every movie.

Thanx -- I'd like to see those files

I've gotten to the point where all backups are the same way

      Ripp all
Shrink to Movie only (Cut Studio intros and end credits)
      Delete extra languages/subs

MenuShrink (if Necessary) and readd "Original menu" if small enough -- or add a generic
Make room in DVDShrink Preferences Target size for menu (If necessary)

      When done Check it

(I'm using Happyface on all compiliations (even if they play fine after prior check -- Mainly doing this to see/test Happyface Preload Form routine and to see if the routine is a "comprehensive" fix for all menu layouts)

It gets to be a rut

yup, i do the exact same thing as you.

i just ripped it with DVDFab decrypter and opened it with titlewriter to see if the audio buttons are functional, and they are.

i then used dvdshrink (movie only) to remove the studio intros/end credits, removed french audio, removed french and spanish subs (kept english subs and audio only) and clicked backup.

i opened the shrink output with titlewriter, added the menu from the dvdfab folder, saved and checked the audio menu with the happyface.... same result, the only buttons that work are the "main menu", "continue" and the subtitle OFF buttons.

i myself don't really care about the audio menu... as long as the chapter menu works, im happy. but i sent you the files anyway. these are the files from the dvdfab rip.

          All is now clear --
DvdShrink is rewriting the audio attributes number of channels on this compiliation to the correct code (from 5 to 6)
DvdShrink is writing the correct codes for Subtitles -- overwriting whats there --Unspecified --sloppy authoring

Since the #'s don't match up between source and import exactly -- TW thinks all streams have been deleted

I think the "Original" is wrong/sloppy design and dvdshrink is fixing --

Theres no way I can trap bad authoring design so its not TW

Edit -- For this menu you could always Undo -- And turn off the Autokill before importing
then turn it back on and hand kill any button you wish --(Drag button to thumbnail trashcan)

Okay Razel-- Came up with a way to handle that really odd situation (Batman Begins audio/subtitle) -- its even somewhat elegant

If No streams match between target and imported source menu and streams are present
Tw will not "Kill" any button dealing with stream selection

And if that audio/setup area of happyface form is filled in
Tw will Remapp Import Menu buttons/commands dealing with stream selection menus by position in menu sequentially--- First button -- First existing stream etc (A la the Generic method) and all buttons will be written as though all original streams existed

Users can always drag buttons to the trash

worked like a charm - great work FA!

i think this is the better way to handle it.

i found another little thing that could be problematic for some, although it doesnt really bother me, as again, i don't really care about the audio setup menu. but maybe it would be a good idea to add this in if possible.

anyway, with the movie Pirates of the Caribbean, there are multiple menus you have to go through if you want to select the DTS audio track. they added an extra menu, probably to confirm that you want DTS, as not everyone has equipment capable of playing DTS audio.

the steps to finally play the dts track are: setup menu -> audio setup -> select dts -> then it takes you to the confirmation page in which you have to select dts again.

for the following, use the pic i supplied. this image is a screenshot of the dts confirmation page.

in happyface, when it asks which pgc is the audio menu, i tried directing it to the confirmation page, then setting the audio button to the dts logo, but when i click on the dts logo, it doesnt do anything. i have to click on the dolby digital logo to make it exit the confirmation page.

i also just doing it normally, inputing the pgc# to the audio menu, inputing the button to dts, but when i view the dvd, it removes the dts button making the "setup" the only functional button (im guessing because of the confirmation page).

again, this doesnt really bother me, but this might bother others, and im sure there are other movies that are like this.

After Happyface if the audio menu area of the form was filled in that last screen will be bypassed as the button to select dts will execute (Select DTS stream) and return to the top of the "audio menu pgc"

The only way there could be a problem is if the Main Menu (In Audio Menu)button checks for dts stream then calls up that crap.
(Actually In ver past when an audio/sub stream was selected TW automatically returned to the root menu instead of the top of the audio menu (I kind of liked it that way)-- Following the KISS rule -- I'll revert in next ver as return to root is the most sensible choice)

                    Rev 2.653
                    June 15, 2006
Added -- A Newbie level Wizard to fill in Happyface form
A Checkbox in Settings to start Happyface with the Original Happyface
BugFix -- Fixed Tw call to PgcEditPreview --was failing when Path to Source contained spaces/wildcards
BugFix -- HappyFace wasn't fixing button link to subtitle Pgc when audio pgc was 0
Not really a Bug --- but if TW detects no audio/substream matches between import menu
And audio/subtitle streams that exist in compiliation
Auto remapping of Existing Streams will be turned off
Added - Macro @ROOTMENU@ to command line parser -- used in menushrink CLI (In Program list)
Allows starting for Example MenuShrink on selected Menu Pre or Post Import
Its Just the File Path of the first line of (Menu Selector or Menu Editor) list
Caution: DON"T try to MenuShrink while DvdShrink processing source
                    Strange and Deadly things happen

Often the TW.zips I post here are usually betas (Even though the About may say otherwise) and I may forget to add Beta to the zip filename-- directed at specific target requests

Click About in TW main menu bar

The site always contains the latest stable Ver incorporating all changes -- 2.653 at the Moment

                          Multi-movie Dvd & Titlewriter Crashing/Freezing

                          Hi.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
                          <o></o>
<o>I'm continuing my enquiry from here:</o>

                          <o> </o>
I assume I got the latest TW i.e. version 2.652. I downloaded it around 29 June 2006. It freezes quite a bit, need Task Manager to fix it.
                          <o></o>
I’ve followed these steps of yours:<o></o>
                          1. Open DVDShrink compiliation in TW<o></o>
                          2. Click Text->Menu shortcut till you see Select Menu to add to compilation <o></o>
                          3. Click the first line <o></o>
                          4. Browse to Tw Simple Menus --Menu4Movie -- Open it (This is your movie selector) <o></o>
                          5. click the second line -- (This is the first DVDShrunk Movie) - Browse to the vts that contains the Menu for that individual movie (In its ripped folder) <o></o>
                          6. Repeat last step for each movie (Except the 4th Vts--Entry will be eliminated later)<o></o>
Click Add Menu [You mean Tick the box, right? There no clicking here]
Click Menu Is Generic [You mean Tick the box, right? There no clicking here]
                          Click Save Changes<o></o>

                          <o></o>
I didn’t open menu file for VTS4 (Looney Tunes) as you said in tip no.12.
                          <o></o>
It’s at this point I’m lost. I’ve enclosed Screenshot 03 to where I am now. It got some comments/observations.
                          <o></o>
I test played it in POWERDVD. The first GENERIC menu it played looks like it’s made for movie 1. The buttons that have links here are:
                          - Play [Movie 1] (just plays the movie, no Scene Selection Menus that I imported)
                          - Play Movie 2 (just plays the movie, no Scene Selection Menus that I imported)
                          - Play Movie 3 (just plays the movie, didn’t import any original menu)
                          - Main Menu (leads to Generic Scene Selection for movie 1 only, 33 buttons max)
                          <o></o>
So how do I correct this so each PLAY button leads to its original Scene Selection Menu?
                          <o></o>
For Movie 1, the original Scene Selection Menus contains 7 pages with 4 scenes per page plus Main Menu link.
                          <o></o>
For Movie 2, the original Scene Selection Menus contains 7 pages with 4 scenes per page plus Main Menu link.
                          <o></o>
For Movie 3, the original Scene Selection Menus contains 4 pages with 6 scenes per page plus Main Menu link.
                          <o></o>
I intend to replace this First-Play Menu with the one I made myself (a Movie Selection Menu), using PGCEDIT & VOBBLANKER if it can’t be done in TW2.6.
                          <o></o>
                          I don’t want a Set-Up/Languages Menu at all.
                          <o></o>
As for the unwanted buttons/links, I can just hide the buttons/links later on in PGCEDIT or VOBBLANKER too.

                          CHEERS!

                              What a mess.

You really should try using TW to just add a Orig menu back to a DVDShrunk movie once or twice just to get some practice (and the idea) on how to use the GUI

First 2.653 is the last stable Ver. not 2.652 -- 2.653 contains a Wizard for Happyface and a number of fixs for those who use spaces in filenames/directories. Half your problem is here.

Just a word using Spaces in filenames/directories is not that wise -- many proggies choke. I use Underscores for safty.

Anyway just Uploaded a beta -- Contains smarter internal code for what you are doing. I strongly suggest you use the Beta -- just done 5 compiliations 2-5 movies in each with orig menus and selector menu

I'll assume you now have TW2.7Beta running (Check The About)
                              1. Open DVDShrink compiliation in TW -- UNDO changes (To eliminate the mess)
                              2. Click Text->Menu shortcut till you see Select Menu to add to compilation >>
                              3. Click the first line
                              4. Browse to Tw Simple Menus --Menu4Movie -- Open it (This is your movie selector)
                              5. click the second line -- Vts_01... (This is the first DVDShrunk Movie) - Browse to the .vob file that contains the Menu for that individual movie (In its ripped folder)
                              6. Repeat last step for each movie (Don't worry about vts-04 since you don't have 4 movies you have 3 --that entry is just a place holder and will be removed )
                              7. Tick AddMenu
                              8. Tick Menu Is Generic (Because the VMG Menu is One of my "Generic" menus) Special handling will also be triggered because you are using orig menus)
                              9. Click Save Changes

The VMG menu will play your movies now (Hitting Menu on remote will call up the orig Root menu for each movie)

In other words you now have 3 DVD's on one with a selector

I gather you want to start with root menu when you press play buttons on main vmg

Heres how -- (Ps you are getting in a bit deep)

You should see a "Menu Editor" pane now
Click Line starting with Video_ts - The entry will expand showing internals (Acts much like a file/directory tree structure)

Click on the Vob line following Pgc2 -- The Main Vmg Menu will show in the thumbnail viewer
click on the button 5 "Main Menu" in thumbnail -- a basic DVD command editor will open
Click Copy command -- Saves command in a clipboard
                              Click Cancel
Click Button 4 "Play movie 2" -- again the editor
                              Click Paste Command

                              A few additions:
if at this point the menus don't play properly -- Then collapse all expanded trees -- expand the "misbehaving" menu/title (click on it) and hit Happyface
                              The Wizard will guide you

You don't need Pgcedit to kill buttons -- just get the menu in the thumbnail viewer and drag the button to the little trashcan

Warning -- Killed buttons can't be brought back to life without UNDO and starting over in TW

                                TW crashing trouble again ...

                                Hi
                                <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
                                Ok, got the v2.653.
                                <o></o>
Re-named the 3 source DVD movie folders using underscores & no spaces for safety too.
                                <o></o>
Where do I get v.2.7 beta? Please give link.
                                <o></o>
                                Again, I followed your instructions:
                                1. Open DVDShrink compiliation in TW -- UNDO changes (To eliminate the mess) <o></o>
                                2. Click Text->Menu shortcut till you see Select Menu to add to compilation >> <o></o>
                                3. Click the first line <o></o>
                                4. Browse to Tw Simple Menus --Menu4Movie -- Open it (This is your movie selector) <o></o>
                                5. click the second line -- Vts_01... (This is the first DVDShrunk Movie) - Browse to the .vob file that contains the Menu for that individual movie (In its ripped folder) <o></o>
                                6. Repeat last step for each movie (Don't worry about vts-04 since you don't have 4 movies you have 3 --that entry is just a place holder and will be removed ) <o></o>
                                7. Tick AddMenu <o></o>
                                8. Tick Menu Is Generic (Because the VMG Menu is One of my "Generic" menus) Special handling will also be triggered because you are using orig menus) <o></o>
                                9. Click Save Changes<o></o>
For step 5 & 6 I assumed you meant open up each VTS’s .VOB menu files INCLUDING Movie 3, right?
                                <o></o>
Click Line starting with Video_ts - The entry will expand showing internals (Acts much like a file/directory tree structure)<o></o>
Click on the Vob line following Pgc2 -- The Main Vmg Menu will show in the thumbnail viewer<o></o>
                                <o></o>
After clicking that “VOB line”, the TW2.6 crash (or freeze?) … see screenshot 10. There’s an ERROR message at the bottom of the prog. So I never got the chance to see Main Vmg Menu will show in the thumbnail viewer.<o></o>
                                <o></o>
I had to use Task Manager to close TW2.6. Then I got the error message in screenshot 11.
                                <o></o>
One more thing I forgot to tell you. Before DVDSHRINK-ing the compilation (and before using TW), I did try the PGCEDIT-VOBBLANKER-DVDREMAKE PRO route as said before in a previous post.
                                <o></o>
After copying each movie to my HDD, I did some editing of each movie via PGCEDIT & VOBBLANKER including ridding off unwanted menus, audio/subtitle streams & features, etc. So when playing each movie (with POWERDVD), I got just the Scene Selection menus, the movie with 1 audio track only and some subtitles I wanted to keep. This was what I planned.
                                <o></o>
The only thing is missing at this point was a First Play Movie Selection Menu with 3 links, one to each movie’s Scene Selection Menu. Tried to use DVDREMAKE Pro but screwed up on that!
                                <o></o>
So you see, after these amendments THEN I used DVDSHRINK. I hope this 3 amended movie output is OK for input in TW. Thus now I've been doing :

                                PGCEDIT->VOBBLANKER->DVDSHRINK->TW

Otherwise I would have to delete the 3 amended movies, rip each movie to HDD AGAIN, DVDSHRINK the 3unadjusted movies & input into TW. I hope using the 3 amended movies makes no difference compared with 3-unadjusted movies for the usage of TW!

                                Regards.
