Thankyou repling cynthia, as i really need help on this one most things i eventually get my head round but not this one, that link you gave me, i do no that link but what i dont no is thats an unofficial update am i right,as the last from lg is jl10 where as that site is jl11 i was thinking about doing it the other day,is it just the same as i would update it as if i was doing it from say the lg site,as if its no difference ive done them many times, and most of all as far as your know are those updates safe as my drive is only a few days old. so basically from your knowledge that log you read looks like firmware and or discs, whats strange is that i put that new drive in my duplicater as the recorder and with the same old riteks ive always used, it burned fine ,thats the only time ive got a successful burn so what does that tell us, i must stop im begining to write a book, sorry lol, many thanks PLEASE ANY IDEAS

Thank you for replying.
I have already successfully burned a couple of dvds from .vob, .bup, etc files, so nero5.5 recognising the drive is not the problem. The thing is I have yet to try any dvd image making program (the files I burned were downloaded btw), so before I tried dvd shrink I was just checking to see if it would be ok with my nero.
And as to why I use nero5.5 instead of imgburn or whatever, nero5.5 is just what I have already installed on my computer (came with another burner). If there is a good reason why I should change I will. Why is imgburn better? (Sorry its probably the wrong place to ask this).Comment

That is more than likely why its not working. That OEM version of Nero was designed only to work with that particular burner. Meaning if you ever switched to a different burner, it wouldn't work.Comment

If I remember correctly Nero 5.5 was still unlimited shareware so if you still want to run it you can get it here:
ftp://ftp4.nero.com/Nero-5.5/Nero551056.exeThey tried to Assimilate me and failed!Comment
