Yes I'm still learning, so forgive. I see the graphs and think I know how to run the scans.
What am I really looking for generally?
What are PI, and Jitters?
How important is the score?
If infomation is the forum, can you link? I searched, couldn't find my answers. I did figure out that the TDK's were not near as good as the Verb's I bought. Any other critique would be helpful to learning.
Thanks
PA,
the GG code means you got authetic TY, now your burner isn't quite as good as the media and any testing you do with it may be showing read or burn errors not having anything to do with the quality of the media.
4x would be the lowest speed I would burn at tho. For any test or burn don't multitask at all.
sqiggles, dips in read/transfer graphs are not good and indicate problems!
I would guess a new burner sometime soon, or have you checked your voltages from the power supply?
Take a disk and use cdspeed to creat a data disk and post that graph.
note: someone needs to make a sticky on how to use cdspeed
lower speed is a relative term, and has changed with new hardware.
4x used to be max speed, now we have 16x burners, I find 4-8x to be the sweet spot for most newer burners, some do better at 8-12x, there are no absolutes here. Just outdated gross generalizations.
just experiment with different burn speeds on different media and then do a transfer test, whatever looks smoothest is what I would go for
I have a question after reading the post by Chewy. I used to always burn with Imgbrn set at max, which would eventually generate speeds from 8-10x. After having the media problem, but before I had come to the conclusion that is was definitely a media problem, I locked the speed to 4x in Imgbrn. Do you think I should go back to the max setting, or should I burn using 4x then max and check the quality with DVD/CD speed? And if so what is actually the best information to burn and do the test? Thank you for any help. As you know I am new to this, but learning as much as I can is my goal, and also something I love to do. Again thank you.
