the MIJ is almost always made by Taiyo Yuden, which gives you grade A(tier 1) media vs, sony mids which are considered grade 2(tier 2) media.
these are averages, as I found out today, when my TYG02's dropped the ball and my ricoh 4x dvd+r's(MIT) beat them

a friend of mine gave me some of her old dvd and it was Ricohjpn001 4x +,I still think they are as good as the worse TY or YD 002 that I have but can not be better, they are still better then the SonysigpicComment

They had dvd-r's MIJ as well 1X - 8X but as I haven't bought those I can't verify who made them.

if I burn in my good 1655 the worse TY will be around 300-700, good one will be less then 200, I never try the Rincoh at 12x, my bad 1650 is only burn the Yuden - only so It does not mess up I can try the Rincoh at 12x and see but I know for sure they can not beat my best burn
