Good grade B media, consistent, but not near as good as they were

Ya know, I guess I keep searching for the holy grail cause I get some skipping when played back on my Momitsu stand alone player. I've used Verbatims, Memorax (crap), Sony with little luck. Maybe I got a bad batch with the Verbatims, I dunno.
Of course, I've only used DVD- media. Maybe I should try the +? My standalone says it will handle both. I think there's a whole thread devoted to the virtues of + vs. -. So I'm thinkin' I ought to try the TY's or maybe a + media.Husker Nation is Strong!

@Huskerfan,
I think your problem might be you are burning too high of a speed! Go down to 8X and no more ... even may be 4X burn speed and I bet you will be OK.
Alos, what works for me is 1) Make an ISO first then 2) Burn it using "ImgBurn" program ... Lately I have been burning at 8X because I really don't see much difference in graphs between 4x Burns or 8X ... except when I get a bad replay and I re-burn it at 4X and viola ... A-OK! BTW, I have been using TYG02's for these.
Huskerfan, Which Burner do you use? and at What Speed do you burn?

I have a TS-H552B (Samsung, I believe) that came with my newest computer and a Sony DRU-510A that I have had for several years. Seems like alot of people prefer Benq around here and I can pick one up on ebay for about $30-$60. Depending on the model. How are the 1620, 1650 or 1655 models? And which one is the preferred burner? or is there a better burner in that price range?
I was burning at maximum but recently brought it down to 4x or 2x. I've burned a couple of Sony's tonight and they are absolutely CRAP! They are media ID Sony16D1. I got zero scores on 2 discs and my last Verbatim I had scored a 93.Husker Nation is Strong!
