I got in a lot of trouble in slow-motion forum time. Just imagine how fast you (me actually!!) could put your foot in your mouth in real time. It's too bad we couldn't have an 18+ let it all hang out area. I hope I don't get Zonked for this but if someone like RFBurns was hanging out in a live chit-chat forum I'd probably open up a Sony electronics repair facility, it's like a phone to the Sony God's. How about a hardware tech section with RFBurns as the lynchpin, or should that request be posted somewhere else?

I dont go to public chat rooms but if we put one here I would b happy to join in. I have made alot of friends here that dont necessarily use yahoo messenger to chat and it would b nice to chat with them in real time. PM's tend to b kind of slow. lol

Nope, but....you can apply language filters if you want to, the ones I've been to don't filter much. There is a bot that is set up to kinda "moderate" what goes on which the administrator(s) program to do different things. If you use mIRC (I'm sure there are others) you can swap files too. If you just want to come and chat a java client can be set up. I guess if we wanted to we could just set up our own room that isn't affiliated with DD and give anyone the keys who wants in. The only rule that needs to be set in stone is "what happens in IRC, stays in IRC".

I agree with blutach on this; If there was chat available, would that not draw everyone to "hang out" there, & not in the forums, where useful information can actually be exchanged? Plus, some users (like myself) type at a snails' pace & would quickly be left in the dust!

I like the forum system just as it is. I feel it is a much more helpful arena for the exchange of information, etc. And, my experience with online chatrooms, no matter what the subject is, they all seem to end up, as mentioned earlier, just a "chit-chat" place! Nothing helpful really gets accomplished.

Just my .02 - probably won't be real popular, but that is my thoughts on the matter. I'm here on business, not to goof off

Site moderators hang out in the other chat room that I go to and whenever something is happening on the site a link is posted....this guy is spamming, double posting, breaking the rules etc. or this guy needs some help can you look at this blu etc. Keep in mind, using the chat isn't mandatory so if you don't want to enter the room you don't have to.
