Go to device manager, double click both on primary and secondary IDE channel, go to "drivers" tab, and press "Uninstall" button.

Leave windows restart, so will be installed standard microsoft IDE drivers.

I am not sure what you mean by that.
All I know is I hooked up the new one the very same way the old one was.

at the back of the drive there is a set of 3 pairs of tiny pins that will have Ma/Sl/CS with a small plastic jumper on one of the sets

Ok I see that, the plastic jumper is the same place as the old one,
the set of pins on the right , middle and left nothing on them.

Ok I uninstalled drivers and rebooted it is working now. DVD is burn now.

next week the better dvd burner will be here and I get to do this all over again. LOL and then this burner will go on my son's computer.
