Okay I just donated to get DVD Rebuilder Pro, and I got it, now what settings do I have to use to get the best quality even with the 3 Hour Movies, to get the best quality possible with HC Encoder since I don't got money to get CCE or Procoder and can I update to HC Encoder 16 yet?

in order to use hc016 test release2:
- download the file (hank315 has provided a link in this forum)
- rename the current 015 version to anything different from hcbatch.exe (e.g. hcbatch015.exe)
- copy the new 016 version into the *rebuilder\encoders\hc encoder* subdirectory and rename it to HCBATCH.EXE (no other name!)
for optimal quality with HC use its BEST profile
very long title might benefit from slight smoothing filters - use undot + fluxsmooth like i described here:
should you want to keep BONUS/EXTRA material try options like:
- options => avs options => advanced expert options => resize to half d1
- mode => steal space from extras => 25%
become familiar with these options and techniques first before going for RME/rockas matrix editor! -
I would be very cautious about using BOTH those extras options together - at least not with a VLB matrix.
Either - Half D1 or 25-50% works well.
Better still, how many times do you watch the extras? Watch 'em once and forget about them is my tactic. Then just do a movie and menus only.

I would be very cautious about using BOTH those extras options together
using half d1 doesnt save you any single bit but using half d1 and thus less than half the actual pixels per frame will let you reduce the bitrate by some 25% without loosing too much
i think you are confusing what i said with the option :
mode => half d1 + half space?
this shouldnt not be used additionally to options => avs options => half d1 because they both used together add to one another
but the way i describe is a very safe way - believe meComment

I may not be awake yet but I thought half D1 saved a lot of space for the movie as it made a DVD in a resolution that saved many pixels.
Need to do some reading.

but I thought half D1 saved a lot of space for the movie as it made a DVD in a resolution that saved many pixels
so reducing to 352x576 LETS you reduce the bitrate and still providing sufficient bitrate saturation for the remaining pixels in each frame but does not automatically reduce bitrate - one has to use steal space from extras
and be aware that rebuilder has two similar features:
1. mode => half d1 + half space for extras (something i'd never use - i consider 50% too much and moreover i want to define by myself what rb considers *extra material* and reduces to half d1
2. the latter can be done by using options => avs options => advanced expert options => reduce to half d1
i use this option a lot but always in conjunction with:
- mode => steal space from extras => n%Last edited by UncasMS; 2 Oct 2005, 08:55 AM.Comment

Here I tried it with Crash, another long movie, and this is how it came out, the first one is the original, and the second one is the encodedComment
-
did you use fluxsmooth YES or NO
sorry, i'm not sure what your driving at
the source looks noisy so does the encoded picture (which is not absolutely identical to the source thus a bit harder to cmpare)
bad in - bad out
all you could do is: use a denoiser/smoother like fluxsmooth - i have said exactly this more than once to you by now
so do me a favour now: give it a try what people suggest and tell us precisely what you did
this is going nowhere
i am not spending my time trying to explain in detail what to use and what not to when my impression is you didnt even try!Comment

well I would try it better if I can get the Rebuilder Matrix Editor, which somehow it ain't working for meComment

Well I did Fluxsmooth on this movie, parameter 7/7, and this is how it came outComment
