can you use gspot to find out if the PROPER filter is installed?

because playback does not necessarily mean the correct codec is installed

                  Run VirtualDub
From the "Video" dropdown menu, select "Compression"
Scroll through (use the down arrow and the slider) the ENTIRE list of video codecs
Post (here) ALL "DivX" codecs listed...

it only says DivX 5.0 Codec for some reason, no others

That's okay. At least you now KNOW that you've got the DivX v.5.0 codec INSTALLED...

Try downloading the DivX v.3.11alpha codec. Uninstall the DivX v.5 codec, install the v.3.11 codec, then reinstall the v.5 codec. Then reboot your system and try my "last resort" solution - selecting the DivX v.3.11 codec in VirtualDub...

i have been facing this problem myself for 3-4 days .

i couldnt get tmpgenc to see any video! even though these videos play fine in windows media player.

what i noticed is that there is a difference in these videos and the videos that TMPGEnc CAN handle...

i opened these videos in Graphedit and found an extra "fdd MPEG4 video decoeder" in thses videos.

TMPGEnc has trouble decoding this kind of video.

anybody has any idea ... any way we can decode and encode these in some other format which TMPGEnc will accept ???

                          looking forward....

                            To prinzNeo

Download and install the FFDShow filter - Then try TMPGEnc...

                              thanks!

i have installed the fdd show filter but still no video.

But i have found something that works :

                              TMPGEnc ver beta 12a(0.11.20.98)

This version works even without the fdd show filter for this kind of video.

                              Anyway thanks for the suggestion.
