going back to the topic i had a pretty rough day with divx 5.03, three times i didnt finish encoding, G knot crashed on me twice and gave list of stupid errors in its log, i still havent finished reading that.
I was under the impression gknot didn't support divx 5.0.3. Someone who uses gknot please shed some light on the subject.

GKNOT version 0.28 (currently in alpha) supports divx 3.11 alpha as well as all the latest divx codecs including divx 5.04 and 5.03

i dont get it why you're picking on somebody elses age for no reason at all.
i am sorry but i have to say this uncas,
we werent picking on anyone, you guys have been very nice and helpful to me so i will be the same. batman made a joke and i replied jokingly, just because someone is young doesnt mean hes NOT more knowledgable than us, i guess he is and thats what counts and makes him older than other members. skd is our good member and i respect him.

just to add to batman's precious post:
gknot looks for divx3.11 and version 5, so if u have anything that falls in this cat it will use it if u select the option. but i had way 2 many problems so kinda gave up.

GKNOT is constantly being updated. They are now on alpha 14, you may want to give it another chance. Also, it is important to note that GKNOT 0.28 is only functional with Virtualdubmod not Virtualdub.

              divx 5.0.3

your not alone, divx 5.0.3 caused me probs too.

when starting the 5.0.3 app green lines apeared
              and froze my computer.

this also spread to WinDvD plat,

              tried to add\remove divx, froze!.

reinstalled my whole system, put 5.0.2 back on,
              works fine now!,
              1Gz amd system-win ME.

and the tv thing divx 5..

I just had to go into nview and enable the overlay control, things that typically don't play in WMP won't be viewable on a tv set unless the vga overlay is enabled on the vga card, via 'nview' [nvida cards]

                Anyways.. all working now, thanx.

btw.. I use xvid, 3.11a, 4.0 and 5x codecs to view, no problems with them running smoothly on WMP 9 or DiVx player 2.1

If I am not mistaken it reinstalls itself after you delete the ad-ware on it
