    Virtualdub audio extracting error

This is a new one for me:

When I extract an audio of this DIVX file, I get this error like a quarter of the way through it:

ACM reported error on audio decompress (200)

I am extracting it to WAV.

what does this mean and how can i solve it/fix the audio track?

[edit] seems to be fine if i extract the audio as wave using TMPGENC. But when I try to play the WAV file it shows playing time of 4 hours and WMP says buffer is not big enough. how can I repair this audio track? [/edit]

      yes it appears to be

But the file itself (with the movie) plays fine...

how can I fix this error or is it unrepairable?

Because i want to downsample it and need to convert this movie to VCD and DVD.

and it wont do it because of the audio error and if the audio sample is 48KHz - you will get no audio at the end of the conversion to VCD

[edit] and I cannot seem to find the audio demux option either...[/edit]

                  :-|

what the heck is wrong with the movies now - it all used to be simple and easy to convert without any problems now i get problems!

index scan is out of range 272/222 (when converting to VCD in TMPGEnc) I used to know the answer to this problem

I suggest that you use the demux option of virtual dub mod.
                    as uncas suggested.

once you have your AC3 stream you can use HeadAc3 he
to downsample your audiofile or directly convert to Mpeg1 layer2
by the way.... a dvd accepts ac3 audio streams.
so just converting the video to a DVD compliant stream would also work.

Thanks - I got it working eventually.

                      just de muxed the audio

used cool edit to save mp3 as wave

                      downsampled

all great - the TMPGEnc produced index out of scan range errors!

so now there is something wrong with the video - I even tried older versions of TMPGEnc - still the same

use the original avi file as videosource.maybe you should save it as silent avi using virtual dub!
use the audio wave file that you have created as audiosource.

that doesnt make a difference shine - but thx.

something to do with the video itself now...

OK, I know I'm going to feel silly for asking but, what's the difference between doing those two things?

I've been trying to find a guide to demuxing and can't seem to find anything (apologies if I missed it).

I actually need to do this to re-compress some DivX files with wma audio encoded inside...
                            Quid agis, medice?

demuxing - strips out the channel as is (channel meaning audio OR video)
