Hi,
For some time now, i've been using VirtualDub to crop DivX files. I don't use any of the encoding controls; i just use the direct stream copy so that i can copy the file while cropping it to get rid of unwanted video at the beginning and the end.
Recently, i came across XVid videos for the first time. I downloaded the XVid codec, and the movies play fine in Windows Media Player. However, when i open them in VirtualDub and try to play and crop them, the program cannot decompress the audio file. I can view the key frames by clicking on the key frame buttons, but if i click the play button, or try to copy the file, i get a message that says: "No audio decompressor could be found to decompress the source audio format."
I was under the impression that the audio format for these files was mp3, and i have no problem playing mp3 files on my coomputer. And, as i said, the audio works fine when i open the files in Windows Media Player.
In case it helps, here is the audio information i got from VirtualDub:
Sampling Rate: 44100Hz
Channels: 2 (Stereo)
Sample Precision: N/A
Compression: Unknown (tag 0055)
Layout: 86620 chunks (0.00s preload)
Length: 27152718 sample (37:42.72)
Min/avg/max/total frame size: 313/313/314 (26517k)
Date rate: 96kbps (7.11% overhead)
I'd me most grateful for any help.
cheers.
