it will not work if you don't do this. alot of ppl forget to click on this option.

i did try the isobuster as well...while the iso buster was doing its job an error windows opened and i did ignore. Thats why, with the result of isobuster i was having a problem with TMPGenc dvd duthoring as it kept saying GOP is too large. you see. so i though of using a diff. program than isobuster to encode a DAT file to MPG
    cheers

tig i was refering to the dat files being made using tmpgencs VCD wizard template, not the dvd template. anyway though:

      what i do is:

      1) copy the dat files to the HD.

      2) open tmpgenc and select dvd template (or VCD if i want, and are dealing with 29 FPS), make adjustments if needed. load the dat(s) files. encode them, re-name them.

3)open these new files i just made from the dat(s) in dvd author, make menu etc. author ---done!

congrats, all you have left is the "easy" part...remember to "add file", NOT "add new track"

the three files will then be back to back under one track

"managed to convert the all .DAT's to mpg's (or MPEG-1/2 whatever it has converted to) through TMPGenc"

you don't recall? didn't you use the template wizard?

anyway....may the FOURCC be with you!

              hi all,

              from the start...
Had 3 VCDs to convert to DVDs. 1 of the VCDs had 13 .DAT files and another had 2 .DAT files and the 3rd had just 1. Total 16 .DAT to convert to MPEG-1/2. Managed to convert all these 13 .DAT files to MPEG-1/2 through TMPGenc DVD Authoring by options : create a new project, add a file, " NOT " add a DVD video.

Some files converted withour any problems but for some files it said " VIDEO GOP IS TOO LARGE ", which i had no clue what that was about. but i chose ignore option and it ignored that error (negligible) and carried on with other files to convert. I now finally have DVD output files which i HAVENT tested/tried. Once i view the DVD output i will let you all know.

              Thank you again ALL.

yes, managed to sort it out. but NOT the best output. now here is what the output is after my tread above...

my 3 VCDs ( 3 .dat files), i vcd was 30 minutes long, 2nd was 2 hours & 3rd was 1 our long so i converted all these DAT files into MPEG-1/2's by tmpgenc. then used tmpgenc dvd author & joined them

got a dvd output on dvd which works on the computer dvd drive but havent tested it on dvd player. but do you know whats happened ?

the created dvd has just 3 tracks. in the longer film if you want to move to the next track it will goto the end track...hope i am being clear..

i mean while joining them, i should hav left some blank screens for 1 sec or so between a long filem...wud that be possible...so right now i have a fild on DVd which is 2 hours long but i cannot skip the tracks to see it into pieces of 15 minutes each...

let me be more clear...in any DVD when the film starts, >>| would move to the next track #2 or pressing >>| again would move to track #3. the entire film can be fast forwarded about 9-14 times but the one i created CANNOT TO THAT.1 film is just 1 track...any suggestions...to add a blank screen in center of the films or a way to add enpty tracks

                cheers and thanks

this is what is supposed to happen when you "add file" and not "add track"

i think what you mean to do is add CHAPTERS. like a bought dvd, it has chapter SELECTIONS. IS THIS RIGHT? if so that program can do that easy as pie.

yes , like i said , easy as pie

but first to avoid further sidetracking, these 3 files are going to be ONE "movie" that you want to be joined together on the one disc, BUT with CHAPTER selections. is this right?

ok, when you put the 3 files under the same track (untitled #1, remember not to "add new track") from the "source setup" screen, you will see each file has it's own edit button. go in there and at top you will see "chapter cut edit" in there you can add chapters for each track as you wish. some places you won't be able to, as so indicated on that screen, but you won't have a problem. use the "next" and "previous" buttons to navigate and when you find the point at which to add chapter click "add current frame to chapter".

                          OR:

at the far right of this same screen you can add chapters automatically using the "add" and "delete" buttons. there are 3 different options there. this can be done for each of your 3 files one at a time.

for a nice illustrated guide click "options" on the top right of program:

"help", "work procedure", "source setup" , "edit clip", at about half way down on that screen you will see a blue "chapter cut edit link" go there for the guide.

spend some time, experiment. you will not learn all the ins and outs of this programs and all of it's features right away. i also would use an rw disc to practice on untill you are sure you got it.

i will try that out..i will add the 3 files to the single track (untitled #1) the way you mentioned and then will try it...coz the earlier DVD i made..freezes in 3 secs of starting and then do nothing....even when burning this project on DVD by nero...it said 1 file could not be verified..it said " total files : 8, verified 7, unsimilar 1 " maybe coz i did NOT put the files in same track like you mentioned , for all the 3 files i did " add new file "..i think i went wrong here.....will see this way...might be lucky...cheers
