    WinAVI

This is my first post so bare with me After scouring the forums for my answer i finally gave up and decided to post. I have a DL'd copy of the X-Files Season 7 and I want to burn a decent copy of it. I have converted the files from AVI to DVD format using WinAVI and burnt a copy using nero express. The problem is that the video is perfect using Windows Media Player or RealPlayer etc. but when I watch it using my dvd player and tv, the video is choppy and isn't that great of quality, what am I doing wrong? Any help is appreciated thxs.

Both. When I play them on my home dvd, the audio is in-sync and fine but the video is a little choppy. I tried writing it at a slower speed and also tried buring it for quality in WinAVI but it didn't help

ok, so your saying the converted file after winavi is fine, so it has to be the burn process.

can you please post a log from nero

It's fairly big, I can AIM it to you if you have it...I also used TMPGenc DVD Author 1.6 to author the file, then burnt it..

            the top part is missing.

"I also used TMPGenc DVD Author 1.6 to author the file, then burnt it.."

no point in that since winavi will output dvd structure files...(unless you want a menu)

you might want to try and burn at 2x, or 4x. i'd also turn on the DMA to your HD.(but it's not the problem here). i'll see if i can find an update for your writer.

I just tried at 4x and it was the same. Yesterday I burned a copy of Training Day using DVD Shrink and it was perfect quality so I wonder if I should use a different program than WinAVI?

but you said you had a downloadedl file that you needed to convert, shrink will not do this for you. when it comes to converting files, winavi has to be one of the worst tools out there.

It could be that it's WINAVI. I also tried using TMPGEnc but kept getting errors when I tried to use the .avi file i wanted.

That would be awesome. Alright when I open the project wizard and try to select the .avi file I want to convert I get this error.

File"C\Documents and Settings\Cory\desktop\dvd\the_xfiles.s07e11.avi" cannot open, or unsupported.
