From what you said, I can recommend the following steps.

You should process the audio separately from the video. You have got your audio. Make sure it is in MP3 format (You can use any MP3-capable encoder, such as LAME or Musicmatch).

Next, you need to get your video. From your previous posts, it seems that you are having trouble with the codec, correct? If so, you may want to try 4.12.

4.12 Codec is not bad either, I think it is better than DIVX 5.

Enchanter - just wondering, can people do a 2pass in nandub using DIVX v4.12 codec?

I don't think so. How can you select the DivX4.12 codec in nandub anyway?

I dunno, I was just asking Enchanter! Cause I heard people on this forum saying they can use 2pass on DIVX 5 codec! and I was wondering if it REALLY was possible

Doesn't indicate that they are using nandub. This can be achieved with Virtualdub. Both DivX4.x and 5.x natively support 2-pass encoding.

              I am sorry guys.
Another attempt failed: I've tried with 4.12 now, Flask was busy for approx. 4 hours. Result: an AVI file with a size of 540M.
BUT: no valid DIVX-file, error in AVI-file.

              ?????????????

Assuming you're using the default settings of the codec (which is 1-pass), you need to check the output format of Flask. You'll want to make sure it is AVI.

                  It was AVI. 100% sure.

Are there some extra checks possible in order to verify what this 'ugly' file result really is?
So we can hopefully determine the cause of it because I am really stuck now.

Can you try to explain, in words, your settings in Flask? No need for full explanation, but just enough so that I can get a picture of what went wrong. Also, what version of Flask are you using?

poor man....bugs and errors all the time.

try not to use flask, use something else instead like nandub or virtualdub....

                        Version: 0.594
-File-Open DVD-file: Open *.ifo file from harddisk.(ripped files from Smartripper)
-DVD selector: duration: 1:31:50 + Dutch audio track
                        -"flask this DVD" button
                        - Optons-output format:select codec: divx 4.12 +
AUDIO: PCM ( only 1 possibility!!)
                        - OK button
                        - Options-global, fill-in the files the output path
                        - Options-global: audio: don't process
                        - Options-select output format: AVI output
                        ( languageutch)

                        That's all I've changed.

If I choose Run-player: the movie is playing (without sound)
                        To convert; Run-start conversion.

Is there a possibility to do these 'trials' shorter in time because it costs everytime 4 hours to try something out?

Nothing wrong there, it seems. Probably a misconfigured codec or some hidden bugs. Try using another codec, like 4.12.

Global Project Options -> General -> Encoding Time. It should help you.

                            Enchanter,
I have already tried version 5 ánd version 4.12.

                            Techno,

Correct me if I am mistaken but it is impossible to do a conversion with Virtualdub from VOB to divx..?!? Virtualdub inputs only AVI-files etc.. Not ripped DVD files.
I can't really follow your statement.

                              yes u can...DVD2avi > GK > virtualdub

make a project file of the vob in DVD2AVI

                              Then save this project

then load this project in GK

then do ur res settings etc..

then save this project and load it in Virtualdub

That path is basically called frameserving and is the basis for encoding with Virtual/nandub. If you are having trouble with Flask, it's a good idea to go on with other programs (and better ones indeed). Go over to www.doom9.org and look at the collection of guides available there. I found them very reliable and good starting points for any encoding "adventures."
