does anybody know what codec is used in the divx 5 portion of gknot. is it the new 5.0.2pro or lite. and can i have somone show me the link to the gain remover for the divx 5.0.2?
GKnot0.26 will use whichever version of Divx5.02 that is installed on your system, of course the pro features won't work if you only have the standard version installed.
i heard it was a dramatic increase of quality from 5.0.1
i was discuraged by the spyware and the bugs before.
but i heard 5.0.2 is a lot smother? if that is true we shall soon see.
thanks for the gain link going to try it tonight.
i'm trying to encode divx5.0.2 and mp3 and the files do not split properly. I'm encoding godfather and this movie is almost 3 hours. I have no choice but to split to 2 cd's to not lose to much quality. it creates a group of files when completed but not 2 finished *.avs. i used the option to create 2 cd's at 695 mb a cd. trying a new encode now to see if i fixed a few bugs with the process. but please someone help me get this fixed.

What do you mean by that?
You can always encode the movie and get a 1.3-1.4 GB file at the end of the encoding, and using Virtual/nandub, split it into two parts that can each fit into a CD.
these are the files so far the first pass is still encoding.
i believe last encode had a set of files after completion too.
i have only seen one *.avs and it was only the first half and a .mov file i believe that was just the video without the audio.
retrying encode to see if it was not user error.
thanks for the quick responces.
the first is the project file from dvd2avi
and the second file is the audio in ac3
what are the 4 remaining ones? look like project perameters
does gknot split the files for you, or does it only calculate out the size for you to get a perfect split?
bit rate tab~>total size

and DONT forget the subtitles for *godfather* unless you speak Italian

Hmmm... Never seen GKnot create any files like this, but I suspect that they are related to a compressability test ?

This would have to be the wav and mp3 files.

Isn't the Godfather split up on 2 DVD's or a double sided DVD ?

GKnot does not preform any splitting.

does vdub have audio support for mp3s?
or do i have to mux in nandub i used the wave option and opened the mp3 and it looked like it was doing something
the files are smaller than predicted from gknot.
i wish there was an accurate way to predict file sizes for full use of cd. how do we get the files to calculate exactly to a given limit.

so if gknot maxs out the quality and burns a smaller size file
does that mean there is nothing you can do to improve the quality more?
Go for a higher resolution, of course you should never use a resolution higher than 704*x. Naturally this will also increase the cpu load durring playback.
Use presice bicubic resizeing if you aren't already.
And I suppose that some might argure that maximum quality without B-frames are better than maximum quality with B-frames.
