    Thanks Jane Smith. Thats a good idea. I think the Open Source alternative would be CamStudio.

      Hi Paglamon, I tried doing all the above things you taught me for a DVD movie whose frame dimensions were 720x480. But what I observe is, after applying the watermark filter in VDub, the audio is slightly delayed by a quarter of a second, compared to the video. Well, actually there is a quarter of a second delay in the .avi file I cut out of the .VOB file, and even before watermarking. The lip movements come first, and a quarter of a second later, the corresponding audio is heard.

      Also when I took this watermarked .avi file (X.avi) and appended it to small clips containing the credits in the beginning(Y.avi) as well as the end(Z.avi) of the said .avi file(X.avi), the de-synch became even greater. Not only that now the audio was ahead of the video! I heard the dialogues first and almost 5 seconds later the corresponding lip movements. And after the audio ran out and still some video remained, the audio started playing from the beginning. Y.avi and Z.avi which was made of a silent MP3 file did not suffer in any way.

      X.avi = main watermarked clip, with audio happening after the video, lagging by .25 seconds approximately.

      Y.avi = Beginning credits (silent)
      Z.avi = Ending credits (silent)

      Y+X+Z = audio heard 5 seconds before the corresponding frames, and playing from the beginning once again after it ran itself out.

      Even Y+X = has a audio delay of 5 seconds.

      Y and Z inside Y+X+Z were unaffected.

      Please help!

        I eliminated the delay in the watermarked clip by going to Audio->Interleaving->Delay Audio Track by and entering -250ms. I will call this corrected clip X1.avi

        But when I combine this with Y.avi, the file I get still has the audio out of sync, just as before, in fact now it is one more second greater, 6 seconds!

        Can you help?

            Ok the massive 5-6 delay eliminated when I realised that the beginning credit clip was 25 fps and the main clip cut from the .vob file was 29.970 fps. I made the credit clip to 29.970 fps by going to Video->Frame Rate (while creating the clip by doing ctrl+c and ctrl+v 50 times for 2 second clip).

            But the 0.25 second de-sync does exist in the in the .avi file cut from the .vob file. It is yet to be watermarked. Actually its close to 0.75 seconds.How to get over it? How to sync sound with video when cutting .vob file in Avidemux?

                AVIDemux is known to have some A-V sync issues when cutting VOB files.Mpg2Cut2 might be a better choice.

                  Well you could have said that earlier! And also can use negative or positive values, depending upon if the audio is ahead or lagging behind the video in the Audi Shift box you highlighted?

                    I too got to know about this only after you have posted your problem.

                    Yes.

                    BTW,AVIDemux has a very active support forum. It might be a good idea for you the ask the Qs there.

                      Sorry, if I sounded rude , but I thought you were an expert in this field.

                      Thanks for telling me about the forum.

                      Anyway, I have solved the problem! The reason is when you cut the .avi file, you will see under Audio-->Main Track, it says Audio track 0,337ms shift. I shifted by -337ms and it synchronised perfectly!

                                A 3 minute 30 seconds DVD .vob converted to .avi by using XVID codec (through Avidemux) yields a file size of almost 122 MB. Is there any way to reduce the file size by using a different codec?
