Is there any way to have DivX5 play only files encoded with divx5? On my machine Divx5 does a poor job of playing divx3.11 AVIs. Right now I'm stuck having to uninstall Divx5 every time I want to play divx3.11 stuff smoothly.

It is possible. There was a thread about this at the doom9.org forum. It invovles some registry changes. You may want to look into it

what do you think the topmost posting deals with?
making sure divx5 plays divx 5 (and 4 of course) and divx3 low motion codec playing back divx3, since divx5 might do a poor job trying exactly that!
really amazing that some people dont even care to read posting titles, let alone its contents

dont get me wrong guys - dont wanna be toooo impolite (just a little
) but when i started participating in boards, i spent days reading almost every goddamn posting - but well, some of you will say: that must have been before WW-II or even earlier

it wont be too long before a new version of Tsunamis filterpack will be at hand including the priority patch, which can be found on my page seperatly now.
thus the playback prob wont be an issue anylonger
