video; sound stutters while playing from cd

while playing a divx file from cd the video and sound stutters.
but only from cd, when i play the same file from hd i have absolutely no problems.
i´ve tested many different burning configurations with nerro without any succes, its always the same.
i tested the burned cds on different pcs (1xathlon xp 1800+;1xathlon 1200; 1x celeron600@900) and its still the same.
i also tested to burn my divx files with different cd-writers (aopen 24x20x40x;teac 12x10x32x;teac(scsi)8x32x) and again the same prob.
with all my selfmade divx movies.
with divx movies downloaded from the i-net i have no probs (from cd and from hd).

im using following steps to convert from dvd-->divx
    1. rip dvd with smartripper to hd
    2. "extract" the sound with dvd2avi and save the project
    3. encode the wav file with lame to a vbr-mp3 file
    4. edit the with dvd2avi created project with GKnot
    5. encode the with GKnot saved project with virtualdub usind 2-pass
    6. use nandub to merge video and sound
    7. use nero burning rom to burn the divx file to cd.

plz help, i have already asked in some other boards and got no answer

Have you successfully played the CD on a different system? If it plays fine on a different system:

    1) Do you have the DMA turned on for your CD drive? (Check its configuration in the Control Panel). It it's not turned on, turn it on. If it is turned on, try turning it off.

    2) Try changing the CD player's buffer settings.

    Let us know of your success ;>}

Just curious - are you perchance creating the audio at 48,000Khz? If so, try reducing it to 44,100, as it may be overtaxing the system.

i think this isnt the problem.
          i tried something:
i burned only the video(the divx file without sound) and only the audio(the vbr-mp3-file) on the same cd.
then played the video file in zoomplayer and at the same time the mp3file with winamp. and there was not a single problem. it hasnt stuttered.
i realised that my cd-drive havent much to do while playing the two files (then i played the "final" movie (audio and sound in one file), the light from the cd drive havent stoped lightning all the time).

          my question now is:
is there an other program to merge sound and video than nandub?
          perhaps is this the problem?!

otherwise i really dont know what to do.
the only way to play my divx cds, is to copy them to hd and then watch.

so plz, anyone have to know a solution, i really dont know what to do.

and sorry for my bad english

            1. it doesnt matter if it is 48 or 44.1khz.

            2. is dma on for your cd drive?

            3. what speed is your cd drive.

              i have two drives:
              1. toshiba sdm1212 (6xdvd 32xcd) udma on
              2. aopen crw 2440 (40xcd) udma off
i have the problem with both of them

i have tested the movies also on the machine from my father:
              1.pioneer dvd (10xdvd 32xcd) udma on
              2.teac (32Xcd) udma on
again the prob with both of them

and tested on the machine from my friend
              nec 32Xcd udma on

i already tried zoomplayer, windows media player 8.0, powerdvd, minidvd and the playa.

all gave me the same result, video and sound are stuttering.

well it must be the reading process or otherwise the file would NOT play fine once copied back to your hdd.

                    what about burning speed?
                    did you try reducing it?
and did you try another brand of cdrs?

Just in the way of experimentation, I'd suggest that you do a "soup to nuts" rip and conversion using entirely different tools than those you've been using (The ultimate quality of the resultant DivX should not be of concern here - this is just to see if it will create a Divx that doesn't gag or sputter).

I'd suggest trying Clad for the rip, Flask 0.594[PX3] for the conversion to .AVI (select PCM 48,000 sound at this point) and then VirtualDub (Under "Video" select "Direct Stream Copying". Under "Audio" select "Full Processing Mode" and then select for "Conversion" 44,100 and for "Compression"MP3 at, perhaps 96Kbps [or higher].

If the resultant .AVI plays properly, start swapping programs one at a time, until you discover the culprit.

                      Let us know of your success ;>}

after the encoding i will try to burn the movie on a different cd-r (brand) and with reduced speed.

                        i will report....

im completely ****ed up now. it wont work.
it is still stuttering all the time.
i changed many settings and used cbr mp3 (normally using vbr)

i even burned the cd with 4x speed (brand: Traxdata; TDK)
                          every time the same prob.

                            Everyone listen to Sterarip

                            setarip is right!

Do this: "1) Do you have the DMA turned on for your CD drive? (Check its configuration in the Control Panel). It it's not turned on, turn it on. If it is turned on, try turning it off."

I have a Dell Inspiron E1405 and my DVD player CD Combo is an HL-DT-ST CDRW/DVD GCC4244. I was having audio probs. Things played off the hard drive just fine, but when I played a DVD or CD in the player, I got really bad audio stutters or studders (however you spell it) in both the headphones and internal speakers. I tried multiple DVDs and CDs.

I chatted with Dell, the morons wanted to send me a new sound card. Why are they so worthless?

Anyway, I checked my Secondary IDE settings under the advanced tab and DMA was already turned on. I was like....crap well that's not my problem until I read Sterarip's post. I changed both Device 1 and Device 0 to PIO clicked okay. Then came back and changed both back to DMA.

IT WORKS! No stutters/studders! Bless you good sir or maam.
