Weird error ive never seen before.

Got this file from a friend and it works on his computer but doesnt work on mine, this is the error it gives me when I try and open it:

But when I try and open it with the DivX Player, it works. Not sure if I should post the info or what but here it is:

Any suggestions would be nice, Thanks. (Its the donnie darko from vite, dunno if I should say that or not)

    I'm guessing that:

    1) You DON'T have the DivX v.3.11 codec installed on your system

    AND

    2) The DivX Player is emulating the DivX v.3.11 codec (whereas, the Windows Media Player doesn't emulate codecs not installed on your system)

"Its the donnie darko from vite, dunno if I should say that or not"

    Then why DID you say it? ;>}

Welp that didnt work, I already had divx 3.11 installed, all my other divx 3 movies work. But I went ahead and tried to uninstall and install it again, no luck, also tried to reinstall ffdshow, also didnt work.

could you load the file into nandub/vd_mod and save it to a different file name?

If I save as a different name, will the file size and statistics still be the same?

as long as you set audio + video to direct stream the file size should stay very similar

Does it mean its a corrupted file when you cant save as an avi with virtualdub? It gets to 556mb, 569842kb each time and then stops for no reason, no error message or anything.

turns out the movie was corrupt, used a program called zidrav to get a patch from a friend to get it fixed, the patch was only 450k, must have only been like 2 frames or something messing it up hehe

Just curious - (at the risk of offending you) these statements appear contradictory. Was the file corrupt, or was it playable under two different scenarios?

well his wasnt corrupt, divx played the corrupt file tho. it somehow got corrupt while he was sending i guess, the 420k must have been missing from the end for the divx player to play it cause the divx player can play incomplete divx movies

                            oshadowo,

Can you please advice me where to get that Zidrav program becos I also have a problematic movie at hand I need to solve. I suspect that the movie may be corrupted as well. The movie couldn't play at all with DivX player, WMP 8 and Zoom player. Thanks!

                            David

http://sourceforge.net/projects/zidrav/ but you also need to know someone with a correct copy of the movie.
