Help needed, I am very new to this

Please could someone help me, I am very new to this. I have bought a new PC, connected to Broadband and started downloading movies via "KAZAA". Most of them are good and i can watch them on Media Player, but some of them say XVID, and when i click on them I only get audio. How can i play these movies that say XVID or some say DVDRIP,
All help would be verymuch appreciated.
    Thanks

              one more help please

When i double click on a movie, it opens windows media player and in the bottom left of the screen it says "sending request for codec" and then says "error downloading codec".
It shows this on some and then opens others. What could i try for the ones that wont work, Please remember that i am a novice.
              Thanks

Can you play the Xvid movies after installing the codec?
D/L and open the .avi in Gspot (available at www.doom9.org) to determine which type of codec that is needed to play the .avi

There you will find Audio and Video information e.g. types of codecs been used to create the .avi.If you look in the Video Format field you will see the codec and it's status (installed or not). Then D/L the necessary codec to play the movie. You might also try codec packs - Nimo Tsunami or ffdshow to name a few...

the tsunami pack, to which the above link leads, is OUT OF DATE!

download the latest version 396 from my page, install it and your problems should be gone.
