    MicroDVD bad Mp3 playback

It has been a while since I am using MicroDVD in order to build divx movie with two language streams. The primary embedded in the avi video, the secondary as a mp3 file.

Usually I encode the mp3 audio track at 48000 KHz 128 bps,
but with the last rip I made (Lord of the Rings) I had a problem.
The Wav file with the secondary audio track plays OK, then
when I playback the mp3 file with MicroDVD the sound is, especially at higher peak, disturbed by small cracks and noises, kind of metallic.

When I playback same file with Winamp or even WMedia Player, I can't hear those disturbing noises...

    Should I try different frequencies/bitrates?
(Already tried a few but without knowing if it's better to increase or decrease settings)
Is MicroDVD worse in MP3 playing than Winamp?

I just encode it as an mp2. It seems to work fine in MicroDVD. It's not as small of a file but it's smaller than a wav.

Check the microDVD documentation on this, because if I remember correctly it is best to use 44,100Hz for audio because it's easier to handle than 48,000Hz.

And use constant bitrate stereo, not VBR or joint stereo or others.

This is just an idea, I may be wrong...
