how about starting with telling us which of the two (or both?) streams troubles you?

      "What should I do?"

Assuming that you've successfully played your original file completely from start to finish, try the following:

      Load the file into VirtualDub
Set BOTH "Video" and "Audio" to "Direct Stream Copy"
      Save with a new filename

If you're not able to play the opriginal completely, do the following:

      1) Load the .AVI file into VirtualDub or NanDub

      2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

      3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (both video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

I think the problem lies in the audio stream. Whenever it plays to that point of the error message in WMP, the audio gives this "garbled buzzing pitch" sound.

You could try using nandub to sav the file and re-encode to another mp3 file. Or maybe cut out the affected frames if it is only a few.

You have to install the DivX v.3.11alpha codec - which includes automatic installation of the required DivX audio codec (hack of the original Microsoft WMA1 codec)...
