playing DivX with ffdshow

hello i have downloaded and installed ffdshow-alpha version, but it has a ffdshow.ax file which i cannot figure out how to open it. I double click on it but will not open. Can someone please help me? Thank you

you're not supposed to!

ffdshow will act as decoder filter with your player

run the ffdshow configuration setup and make sure that ffdshow will be used for the CODEC you want it to (be divx5 or xvid or ms v2 etc)

thank you UncasMS i just started off today with my avi file not playing back. Got that working though with divx5 and came across this great forum.
What im doing is im trying different players, saw ffdshow and got a bit confused

i consider these good players:

- wmp64 (type mplayer2 from run prompt)
- bsplayer
- media player classic
- zoomplayer
