      Just did a normal install and chose 'custom' but didn't change anything. wouldn't have had a clue what to change anyway.

        that's strange indeed

        you have all the necessary codecs, but even with reliable player you dont succeed.

        maybe uninstalling, rebooting and reinstalling 3.9.9 might make any difference.

        i'm at my wits end

        does this problem occur with every file or only certain movies?

          It happens with every Xvid I have.

          Please don't worry Uncas, I am quite happy, My main use for these files is to watch them on my standalone DVD player and I am able to do that with no problem.
