divx with ac3 - jerky playback

When playing divx with ac3, I get very jerky and accelerated playback. I am using winXP with WinDVD through SPDIF out to digital receiver. If I playback the raw .ac3 filw in WinDVD, I get perfect playback. When I play the Divx file, the receiver trips to Dolby Digital, but it's extremely jerky.

I have concluded that I must be muxing the tracks incorrectly in Nandub, but I am lost as to how to fix the problem. Any help would be appreciated.

you should NOT just use any setting for muxing ac3s

what bitrate is your ac3 and what interleaving values did you use?

Bitrate is 448 kbps. I used interleaving settings of 64ms preload, 64ms interleave. Those were recommended as good general settings, but if I need to be specific to each situation, I would like to understand the settings.
