No video or Sound in AVI

Ok, I have divx 3, 4, 5 and xvid installed already since i use them to watch other movies.
I have even used gspot on the file and its says all is well.
When i play the file in windows media player 9, its plays but does not show any video or sound.
I have even tried in PowerDVD but the same thing happens.

    Any help please?

It's undoubtedly a fake file but,

    1) Load the .AVI file into VirtualDub or NanDub

    2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

    3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (both video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

Ok when i try to open the file with virtualdub i get an error message reading

couldn't locate decompressor for format 'DX50' (unknown)
virtualdub requires a video for windows (vfw) compatible codec to decompress video. directshow codecs, such as those used by windows media player, are not suitable.

      any thoughts on that?

that *undoubtedly* means divx5 is NOT installed properly

        re-install divx 5.x

As I initially speculated, it IS, in fact, a fake file...

(All keyframes same size, no audio information...)
