Which codec did you download? As far as I know, you need to install ("register" with Windows) the iviaudio.ax filter.

I downloaded the 8.21 ac3dec but i dont think it contained any installer, it just had two .exe files and a GUI. Is there any other codec that i can download?

alright .. if someone can send me the ac3 codec (along with any instructions) my way (lank1a@yahoo.com), I would be very grateful. I am running winxp, in case that matters. Thanks in advance.

Uncas, I tried right-click and save as earlier but it didn't work. I didn't try again after that. Thanks for posting the link anyway.

Kaiser, the link works charmingly but i still can't hear the sound from my movie. I noticed the following error when I doubleclicked on the registerfilters-99.bat file (i had to do this on a command prompt):
                        - ['c:\windows\system\regsvr32' is not recognized as an internal or external command, operable program or batch file.]

Any help would be much appreciated. And again, I am running WinXP.
