I Need Help

Hello! i have celeron on 750 mhz, riva tnt2 m128 with 32 mb ram, 128 mb ram onBoard... sound and picture are not sinchronized, sound is going before pic sometimes even more than 10 seconds! i tried to get new divx player, codecs, and similar stuff, but nothing helps! i tried also to lower hardware acc of my graphics card, but that doesnt help either! none of my *.avi works correctly! can somebody help, please???

A little clarification

I think you may just have a problem with processing power. Celerons don't do video that well, so you may need to upgrade to a faster processor. It may also have to do with the encoding of those files that you are trying to access. I know that on my old computer, only certain DivX files would run smoothly. If it was encoded differently, it sometimes would do exactly what you're talking about, with the video lagging behind the audio. I don't really have any good recommendation other that try to upgrade if you can. Sorry.

what princeendo says should be doubted by your side!!!
since you have suffiicient speed to run divx movies
of almost any kind, if there is no major thread running on your computer, you may have a "lets us say" codec conflict!!!

I suggest to get rid of all your codecs at first!(left alone the ones provided by powerdvd or windvd or your camera etc. etc.)
uninstall nimo codec pack uninstall divx player alpha2.0

get rid of any suspicious codec in Start---> setting --> system setting--> multi media-- devices-->video compression codecs.

If your os differs a lot from mine you could also use the codec sniper that comes with the Tsunami filter pack to get rid of superfluent codecs.

after having done this get the tsunami codec and filter pack

install the codecs you need!!!

as a decent divxplayer I reccommend BS player!!

uh I forgot it may be that you have multiple threads running in background at startup!

go to start button--> type msconfig-->autostart then uncheck all

threads that you do not neccesarily need anytime you run your
PC. ----> reboot.

if you do not have msconfig on your computer refer to the
doom9.org guide on that!!

FOR THE LOVE OF GOD, DO NOT GET CODEC PACKS..
they suck, the best way to know exactly what you have or not is to get each and every tool one by one.. it sounds tedious but at the end you´ll never have a problem again...
i would also recommend you to get ffdshow, it´s a divx\mpg4\xvid decoder wich runs faster and better than divx and xvid decoders themselves....
but for what you said, i think the rpoblem is actually the movie and not the software.. try fixing it with virtualdub.. open it with popup extended options (and check rederive keyframes), then do a direct stream copy for both audio and video with error check and try run the new video.... if it doesn´t work, then it is a problem with your software configuration....
and talking about decent media players, get m2vplayer, it´s the best i´ve ever come across, has support for pretty much everything, it kicks ass....

I strongly DISAGREE with Santa on the codec packs being useless cos I tried most of the codec packs out there and IMHO Tsunami Filter Pack is one of the most complete (not up-to-date though) codec packs out there.

However, I STRONGLY AGREE with Santa on MV2 Player being one of the best players out there... I tried to 'advocate' the use of MV2 Player but most ignorant fools out there just ignored it... Try it at:

Santa's probably one of those 'remarkable' people out there who installs EVERYTHING in a codec pack and it probably screwed up his computer or something.... hence the conclusion: Codec Packs Sux.
Artificial Intelligence is no match for Natural Stupidity.... don't blame the codec pack.

But I re-iterate Santa's point on the MV2 Player... it makes BSPlayer look like your first Superman toy that you really enjoyed... until you got a Computer.

Unfortunately it got shot down cos few wanted to try out this player... And I repeat, I DO NOT have any part to play with this player (ie. no involvement in it's development).

I apologize Enchanter, that I can't list what I feel is 'Better' about MV2 Player than BSPlayer. That would be spamming. Although both are excellent players, MV2 Player has more advanced features.
For a start, MV2 Player can use BS skins. It also has most if not all the features of BS Player.

It's not the perfect player and is still the in alpha status so there are the occasional bugs...

You guys have to try it out (if you so desire) and judge for yourself. Perhaps I'm exaggerating it's features and capabilities but one thing is for sure... I have never seen a player so 'feature-packed'.

MV2 Player

Gave this player a quick try.

Nice number of options (makes you feel like you are more in control of everything). Everything from the general options to the video window to skins, capture, CD audio players, and many more. Don't know if the DivX decoders are built-into the player or not (can't tell even if the options for tweaking their post-processing filters are made available in the player options).

However, I don't seem able to find the option to specify whether WaveOut or DirectSound is used for audio output. The player, as a result of the greatly added number of options, also opens and performs noticably slower than BSPlayer. Not really an issue for me, but might be for those who like 'snappier' players. Lastly, I discovered that the player intentionally makes this annoying error beeping (you know which; you hear it often under Windows ) whenever it is closed by the user.

Overall, I find this a great player, though I still do not see much reason to prefer it over BSPlayer (which I use and love). Not that I am saying I do not like the MV2 player; I am just slow in picking up new 'toys'.
