    what is this?

    while cleaning the corners of my hard disk out i found a file called
    "Xvid movie.avi", shouldnt be a problem - i have a set of Xvid codecs i've never had problems with. Trying to play this file
    (media player 6.4) gives me an error message i've never seen before:

    ClassFactory cannot supply requested class

    Feeding it to MPC tells me a bit more:

    Media Type 0:
    --------------------------
    AM_MEDIA_TYPE:
    majortype: MEDIATYPE_Stream {E436EB83-524F-11CE-9F53-0020AF0BA770}
    subtype: MEDIASUBTYPE_Avi {E436EB88-524F-11CE-9F53-0020AF0BA770}
    formattype: TIME_FORMAT_NONE {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}
    bFixedSizeSamples: 1
    bTemporalCompression: 0
    lSampleSize: 1
    cbFormat: 0

    Media Type 1:
    --------------------------
    AM_MEDIA_TYPE:
    majortype: MEDIATYPE_Stream {E436EB83-524F-11CE-9F53-0020AF0BA770}
    subtype: TIME_FORMAT_NONE {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}
    formattype: TIME_FORMAT_NONE {00000000-0000-0000-0000-000000000000}

    bTemporalCompression: 0
    lSampleSize: 1
    cbFormat: 0

    so- who can tell me what this means?

    Either that, or if 1 of you has seen this file before, just tell me
    what that is instead.

    Thanks.

    1) Load the video file into VirtualDub (or one of its many variants) or NanDub

    2) From the "File" dropdown menu, select "File Information"

    3) Post (here) EVERYTHING you see (BOTH video and audio information), or post a screen capture .jpg of the information box

      your playbackfilter isnt installed correctly or an out-of-date version is installed
