first of all you should read the stickies!!!!!
second, you should maybe not use the WMP to display divx videos
since there are better ones like the BS player or the MV2 player.
third, you might give the ffdshowfilter a try FFd show is a code that
can display most of Mpeg4 based movies like divx.. xvid.. and so on.

media player classic, im my opinion is the best player available.
ffdshow, is a (mpeg4) codec, commonly used to play xvid and divx files.

                Go to:

Download Media Player Classic, a multimedia player capable of playing DivX movies

if I'm interpreting the data correctly, it looks like you've obtained a fake file...

If it's not an entirely fake file, it's indicated as having been created using a DivX v.5 video codec - which you would have to download and install..

it may be thats the way the file was encoded. however open the file in virtualdubmod, and play it to see what was actually encoded. if it does not match what you have seen then its still a playback problem.

                              one more tip.....

since you decided to use the Divx codec I recommend that
you use the latest version. which is 5.05 I suppose....
an adware, full working version can be downloaded from the
softwaresection of this site. The reason--> also Divx 5.05
movies will be recognized as DX50 but the 5.02 version
is not able to display them correctly if they were created with
                              the 5.05 version.
If you don´t like the DivxPro codec to "spy" you out
deny access to internet for the program Gain Trickler, by
creating an apporpriate rule with your firewall.
though some have suggested the windows mediaplayer classic
as best player I still like to remind you on the BS Player.
